Product Manager – Modelling & Pricing

Concirrus is at the forefront of digital transformation in the specialty and automotive insurance markets.

Our talented team worked closely with the insurance community to create Quest. Quest is our expertly designed, intuitive, cloud-based digital underwriting platform built upon cutting edge technical architecture. Quest helps the insurance market seamlessly combine complex datasets, and using AI and machine learning, the platform analyses the data to provide insights to transform the way that underwriters select and price risk.

We believe that the key to delivering state-of-the-art insurance in today’s connected world is data, and we’re continuously evaluating datasets that will add value to our clients.

Concirrus doesn’t just want to see the insurance market survive, we believe that with the right tools, the industry could thrive. Customers rely on our team to deliver:

  • Class leading datasets to enhance their understanding of real-time risk
  • Streamlined data analysis and automated processes
  • Cutting edge risk models driven by the latest developments in AI and machine learning to deliver greater efficiencies
  • Transparent insights into the behaviours that correlate to claims
  • The latest innovations in technology to help them succeed
  • All delivered through beautifully designed web applications

Our product suite does the heavy lifting so that our clients can focus their expertise on innovative risk management and pricing.

We’re data scientists, innovators, entrepreneurs, designers, developers, and insurance specialists. We’re also guitarists, rally drivers, athletes, art collectors and investors. We’re an astonishingly diverse bunch with shared values and this suits the way we work.

With backing from insurance and deep tech investors, and a passionate and driven team based in London and Delhi, we’re looking for exceptional people excited by our vision to help us make it happen.

The Role

We are currently seeking a Product Manager to join our rapidly expanding London based team and focus on guiding our modelling, pricing and data science across our products.

You will represent and push our data science and AI driven product roadmap including predictive modelling, (re)insurance pricing, and big data analytics. You will drive this across our product suite, including Automotive Fleet, Marine Hull, P&I and Cargo as well as future lines of business. You will collaborate with our business line specific product managers to bring benefits to our entire product suite.

You will bridge the gap between underwriting, actuarial and data science, thriving under pressure and with the ability to explain the complex in an easy to understand way.

You are a geek at heart; data, insights and modelling excite you, yet you communicate with confidence, humility and commercial tact.

You are confident speaking up, even when outside of your comfort zone, applying your extensive previous experience to aid you in your endeavours.

Answering difficult customer questions or handling tough challenges energises you.

You will drive forward innovation within our product, working closely with our data science team to understand the art of the possible.

Whilst part of this role will be defining strategy, you will also be expected to get your hands dirty; really understanding the data, modelling and our product in enough detail to challenge the mindset of product managers, developers and data scientists alike.

Major Responsibilities

  • Define a roadmap, working closely with and taking input from our product line specific product managers and the data science team.
  • Represent our modelling and data science outputs with clients.
  • Provide thought leadership to inspire the company and industry.
  • Integrate and liaise with data strategy to help ensure data required for modelling is available.
  • Own the progress, vision and roadmap of our Quest Data Platform (which serves analytics ready data and tooling to a technical user base).
  • Give input to designs and features across products from a data perspective – aiding by looking at sample data and creating examples where necessary.
  • Provide input to data structure and requirements for data science outputs to go into the Quest applications.
  • Aid with model understanding when onboarding customers, and during bespoke model builds.
  • Build internal understanding of insurance pricing & modelling techniques, in turn learning from our talented data science team.

Key Attributes

  • Commercially savvy, ideally having gained experience in a customer-facing role.
  • Experience working in a Data Science, Data Analyst or Actuarial role, preferably in the commercial insurance sector.
  • Ability to make difficult decisions, prioritising inputs from various stakeholders, and backing your decision making up with data.
  • Very proficient at analysing, understanding and presenting data outputs.
  • SQL/Python coding experience.
  • A collaborative and results-driven mindset, with the courage and mental agility to challenge the status quo.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to distil and clearly explain complex ideas, technologies and solutions.
  • Strong organisational skills; capable of coordinating with stakeholders and teams to meet deadlines and drive progress.

Nice to have:

  • Product management experience.
  • Actuarial qualifications.
  • Studied within the field of data science.
  • Management / leadership experience.
  • Experience with PySpark.
